Music Events Pages so far ...

Hello yearbook team, Its Jess Paterson here. I am in charge of:

· ‘Earlier With’ ‘Barn Gigs’ and ‘One Night stand’ PAGE A

· ‘Old School Disco’ and ‘Xmas Cocktail party’ PAGE B

I think ‘Earlier With…’ and ‘One Night Stand’ should be on the same page (half each) because they were both very similar events. ‘Old School Disco’ and ‘Xmas Cocktail Party’ could go on the same page, but that could be a stretch. As there are two Barn Gigs a year (with plenty of photos) I think this should have one page to itself.

As I am not attending The Xmas Cocktail Party I will recruit someone to write and take photos. I am currently working on the One Night Stand article and have photos waiting in the wings.

… And that is it so far!

Here are the first ideas for English and geography

More quotes etc to follow!

English

A spine-chilling performance of ‘The Woman in Black’, a dramatic show of the Phantom of the Opera and an emotional and poignant trip to Ypres, Belgium to discover the harrowing experiences of WWI poets such as Wilfred Owen; it has been an exciting two years for English.

Delving into all the varieties and depth of both Literature and Language, I think it’s safe to say we are some what the wiser after the last two years of English…

Geography

River Rib. Need I say more? What felt like the eighth outing for those of us who had been a few more times than we had hoped, so began the two years of Geography. Well as a matter of fact, things did get a bit more exciting as alongside the infamous field trip to Hertfordshire, how could we forget our exotic expedition to Wales? We definitely saw a enough of sand dunes that week, yet an epic night of Bowling, obviously to assist our studies…and nothing to do with Fletty having a few too many and getting a bit too enthusiastic, did bring the much needed excitement to Birmingham! Amidst the rivers, glaciers, cities, growing populations and volcanoes, it has been a good few years for us Geographers, well here’s what teachers thought anyway!

Thanks,

Pippa

I am responsible for the Dance page in the year book and the Dance show page.

I am waiting for comments from Miss Knowles and Miss Coleman; however I do have some photos of dances and will send them at a later date.

The theme of the dance show is still being discussed so I am unable to do anything about this page at the moment.

Old School Social

“Unfolding within the transformed common room, the 2010 Old School Social was an unforgettable night of chart music dance mania. Greeted with photographs, plenty of free glow sticks and sweets - everyone was in the party mood. Boring conventional school uniforms? No way, its party time - Short skirts, bunches and even shorter ties were aplenty. Music, lighting and sound was provided by Josh Alport and The Monk brothers who really brought the evening to life. Strobe lighting brought you to another world – a world of old school disco fever. A world which everyone wished would never end.”

This is my ‘final’ version of the ‘Old School Social’ text, which will be on the same Page as the Xmas Cocktail Party. I still need to add photographs, but am unsure of how many at the moment. These will be found on facebook and I’ll get them later or add them to the ‘Yearbook Photo’ page.

IT (page shared with FILM/MEDIA)

On behalf of the IT group, I would have to say that two years of IT has been... interesting. At the start of the year we lost about half the class for many reasons, but they probably had the right idea! We have had disruptions aplenty, been dazzled by Chris’s salesman swagger and confused by the crazy mark schemes. The trips have been interesting and the bear tops it all! We had some great teachers, and some great times that we will probably remember forever! Good luck in the future guys, Chris J

Mrs Vandapere Brown - I wish the very best for you all in whatever path you choose to take in life, and hope you will look back with fondness on the crazy days when you studied the IT diploma (with a slight twinge of guilt for letting me back the minibus into that pole!). Best wishes, Vandy.

Mrs Tyrell - IT lssns hve nvr bn so hlarius. Remember, TFDOWYDITP. The future depends on what you do in the present”

Mrs Badzire - The Inbetweeners have nothing on you lot.  I can honestly say, to quote Vinnie Jones in Lock Stock, it has been emotional!

Mr Canning - The group were like camels. They were stubborn and looked ridiculous, but when motivated they achieved a great deal. All the best for the future! Good luck!

Photo to be added…

Yearbook Content

This is what I’ve got thus far. It’s still in note form, but covers the basic content of each piece.

I’m also trying to get hold of photos for the French exchange, but they seem to be less readily available than Chicago ones.
